You should try to use targeted keyword or phrase toward the beginning of title (H1) tag. But if that is not possible, make sure it is at least somewhere in the title.
You should also not repeat same keyword more than once in title tag. Because you think it will help the article to rank higher. It will won’t. It could be actually hurt your ranking. Don’t try it.
And keep the length of title to under 65 characters.
Correctly Displayed URL
Making sure your URL is displayed correctly. It is an important on-page metric. Again, you should use your target keyword in URL, and avoid using special characters, symbols, brackets, commas, etc. within the actual and real URL.
Use the dashes to differentiate strings in your URL structure. These are called the “pretty” permalinks and are supported by the most web browsers.
Example of good permalink:
The Heading Tags
You should use heading tags to highlight the various headings, sub-headings, and the important points.
In WordPress, the tag of title is set at H1. You do not really need to use any more H1 tags anywhere in the article. One is enough for your post. For the section breaks, stick to H2 and H3 tags.
Also, don’t use too many H2 or H3 tags as the Google’s algorithms won’t like this.
Density Of Keyword
You should keep keyword density around 1.5% percent with a mix of LSI keywords.
Use your main keywords once in the first paragraph and again in last paragraph. And use it in content where it makes the sense.
You should add the unique and relevant meta-description with each blog post.
Again, you should use your use targeted keyword in the meta-description of post. But don’t make the keyword spam your description. While search engines pick up on the keywords, it’s also important for users to click on post. You need to write user-friendly meta-descriptions that make the sense and are related to your post.
With regards to the meta-keywords, Google has made it clear and simple that they don’t care about them. But the some search engines, like Bing, may still care it little.
Image optimization does help a lot in driving the traffic from image searches.
Keywords in the “title of image” and the “alt text” help to make your blog post more focused and the targeted.
But the more important than that:
Images create the engagement.
And the more engaged a user is, the more likely they will stick around, thus increasing your overall rank.
But there is one more important point to note. Large images will slow down the site, and having a slow loading site will decrease your Google rank. So it is very important to:
- Compress the images.
- Use the caching plugin.
- Use the CDN.
Write The High Quality Content
You should write the engaging content.
If you are trying to get by with low quality content and “trick” the search engines, you will be surely fail.
Your post should be a complete manual for that the keyword. You should learn how to engage the audience in a way that works for them. Try asking your readers ‘the questions and answering them. Understand what they are wanted to read, and then write that.
